Gate 5: A Passage Between Worlds

Gate 5 belongs to Claire Grillet’s ongoing series Gates & Portals, where sculpture becomes a threshold between realities. Far from being static objects, these works act as monoliths, markers that suggest an entry point—not only into physical space but also into unseen dimensions. Each gate embodies a dialogue between matter and spirit, guiding the viewer toward transition, discovery, and transformation.

This particular piece plays with geometry and rhythm, its sharp angles and open voids creating both structure and transparency. The interplay of full and empty spaces makes it seem simultaneously monumental and weightless, as if suspended between solidity and light.

The version shown here is crafted in high-shore polyurethane resin, with over 14 meticulous layers of coating and PU varnish, producing a luminous and durable surface. Like many of Claire’s works, Gate 5 is also available in aluminum, stainless steel, or bronze, and can be adapted in scale—from intimate indoor editions to monumental outdoor installations.

At once architectural and poetic, Gate 5 embodies Claire Grillet’s vision of sculpture as a physical and spiritual link—a form that opens not just onto new spaces, but onto new ways of perceiving reality.
